Scope and Contents The letter contains information on CHOG in Poplar Bluff. It states that the original congregation met for Sunday schoolbut did not have an established place. The congregation became more established with a tent meeting on June 30th, 1914. After the meeting, services begame more regular in homes until the congregation moved into a store building. Note it uses the word colored to describe the black congregation. Information was furnished by Mrs. Eita Sheldon. Pilgrim services were started in 1889 in private homes and rented halls. A building was constructed in 1911 with an integrated worship service.

Church was started with cottage prayer meetings in 1932 until a church basement was rented. Church stopped work because of discourgament but began again in 1941 until a flood wrecked the basement and a building fund was started.
