Contains the history of the church, with much credit given to W.C. Hamby and wife for their 30 years of service. Several families came from North Alabama to Valdesta, including Hamby and Nathan McNeal, in 1918.

Writer states "the History of the Congregation of the Colored Church of God, La Fayette, Georgia". The congregation was started through conversions of Martha Wheeler through efforts of Emma Chapman, who was white. The first building was a former hog shelter and a Sunday school was opened.
