Materials Specific Details

1st edition, original had tied paperwraps (as issues.) Published as a Christmas greeting with a poem by Frost, and illustrated with a woodcut by Thomas W. Nason. The present copy has the Frost imprint (1/300) out of a total press run of 2050 with six varyng imprints (Crane B13) and is specially instribed and signed in full by Frost on the second free end page. The inscription is "To Dave Stevens/from/Robert Frost" in fountain pen ink. Frost seldom personalized these Christmas cards, and full signatures are most uncommon. These little Christmas greetings were originally introduced by Joseph Blumenthal as the Spiral Press without Frost's permission, though they quickly became a seasonal tradition for Frost and Blumenthal. The present item is one of the earlier issues in what became a long series of Christmas greetings. A beautiful copy, of which the early issues are now quite scarce, and uncommon signed. An excellent example in fine condition.
