General
This book contains those poems which, on documentary and other evidence, it is believed Robert Frost himself would have chosen to represent his poetic achievement had he lived to supervise a comprehensive edition of his work. He left at his death in 1963 no unpublished, completed poems that there is definite reason to believe he would have included in such a collection as this. THe time will come for a variorum or definitive edition in which it will be appropriate to print every scrap of verse that can be attributed to Frost, but the materials are not yet adequately in hand.
