1st edition, full cloth binding, w/out dj. A special review copy with review slip tipped to pastedown, noting "publication Date Feb 16 1939" and "The price of this book is $5.00" along with the notation requesting copies of any reviews be sent to Henry Holt and Company in New York. The book is also specially signed by Frost in year of publication "Robert Frost/1939" in black fountain pen ink on the second FEP. Although not mentioned in the Crane biblipgraphy, there was reportedly a limited edition issued by Holt using first edition trade copies with a signed page following the first FEP. While we have handled two thus described copies, we have never encountered a copy with both the signature and the review slip. The cloth binding is quite worn along the inside rear hinge and at all corners, as well as overall moderate soiling. With all due respect to noted condition of binding, the book remains sound and is internally fine. Quite possibly the only signed review copy existing of this title. Scarce and unique.
