Abstract

Correspondences kept by A.L. Byers from the early 1900s. Byers was addressing the West Virginia state governor regarding the sentencing of an African American man named Henry to death for a crime that he was innocent of committing. Henry's death sentence was not stopped by the governor of West Virginia.
